I'm thinking about having my wedding on Long Beach Island.
How do I start?

The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce has put together an information packet for local weddings. Call the Chamber at 1-800-292-6372 or locally at (609) 494-7211. You may also contact The Chamber via its web site for the latest information.

LBInet's Businesses Online has a Weddings and Banquets web page where local venues advertise. Also, check LBInet's Yellow Pages category Caterers, Banquet Halls, Weddings.

Check the Non-Profit Pages for a list of Churches on the island.

LBInet's Community Pages have the contact information for every municipality on the island. You'll need to contact the individual communities to get information about ceremonies on the beach, people to preform the ceremony, etc.

Can you give me some suggestions on where to have a wedding on LBI?

Where do I go to get information about holding my wedding
on the beach?

Since Long Beach Island is made up of several different communities, you'll need to contact the community where you plan to have the wedding. LBInet's Community Pages have the contact information for every municipality on the island.

Most communities have no problem with ceremonies being held on public beaches. However, receptions would be very difficult considering the restrictions on food and drink (not to mention the wind, sand and flies). The best you could do would be to have the reception at a venue that faces the beach like the Engleside Inn.

Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, being a public park, is available as a gathering place on a first come - first served basis. Call for details.

Where can I hold my reception on Long Beach Island?

The Boathouse, the Sea Shell, the Engleside, Kubel's Too and the Bonnet Island Estate are nice places that host receptions. The Brant Beach Yacht Club is also nice. Or you could try a VFW Hall. Some of the communities on LBI rent out their volunteer fire company halls for special occasions . Keep in mind that many places won't do wedding receptions during the summer season.

While there are many beautiful and large private homes on LBI, chances are that most people who own one would not rent it out for a reception. However, it never hurts to try. Your best bet would be to contact a local realtor to find out who owns a large enough house.
